The MCP server is free and open source. You need a Webflow account; features like page branches still need the matching Webflow plan.

Webflow runs an official MCP server at https://mcp.webflow.com/mcp. It's in Claude's connectors directory and ChatGPT's app directory, and Claude Code, Cursor, Windsurf and Codex can add it by URL. You pick which sites or workspace to share during OAuth, and the agent works inside your existing Webflow roles.

For marketing teams the CMS and SEO tools are the draw. Claude can list collections, create and update CMS items, fix page titles and meta descriptions, find missing alt text and broken links, and read site analytics. Webflow publishes ready-made prompts for keyword audits, SEO metadata and link fixes. It can also build sections, styles and components, though a few canvas tools need the Designer open with the MCP Bridge App running.

A workflow worth stealing: ask Claude to audit every blog post for missing meta descriptions, write new ones under 155 characters, and update the CMS items without publishing. Then you review in Webflow and publish once. Pair it with the Canva MCP for the blog thumbnails.

Caveats: each authorization covers one workspace, so switching means re-authorizing (or reinstalling the connector in Claude or ChatGPT). The server can publish and write custom code, so start with a staging site or keep approvals on. It also can't create new localized CMS items yet.

Official vs community Webflow MCP

Webflow MCP server

Remote server URL: https://mcp.webflow.com/mcp

Webflow built and maintains this one, so there's no reason to hunt for a community server. Use the hosted URL with OAuth for day-to-day work. Run the local webflow-mcp-server package only if you need a fixed API token, say for an automation that can't do a browser login.

What you can ask it

  • “List all my CMS collections and show me their fields”
  • “Audit my blog for missing meta descriptions and write new ones under 155 characters, but don't publish”
  • “Find images with no alt text on the homepage and pricing page and suggest alt text for each”
  • “Analyze my last 5 blog posts and suggest 3 new topics with target keywords”
  • “Find older posts on the same topic as my latest one and add internal links to it”
  • “Check the site for broken links and list them by page”

Features

  • Read and update CMS collections and items, including blog posts and landing page content
  • Manage pages, SEO titles and meta descriptions, and the sitemap
  • Read site analytics and form data from inside the chat
  • Build elements, styles, components and variables on the canvas (some tools need the Designer and Bridge App open)
  • Manage assets, custom fonts, site scripts and custom code
  • Ready-made prompt library for SEO metadata audits, keyword updates, alt text and broken links
  • OAuth scoped to the sites or workspace you pick, using your existing Webflow roles

FAQ

Is there an official Webflow MCP server?
Yes. Webflow hosts it at https://mcp.webflow.com/mcp and publishes the source at github.com/webflow/mcp-server.
How do I connect Webflow to Claude?
Add the Webflow connector from Claude's connectors directory and authorize your sites. In Claude Code, run claude mcp add --transport http webflow https://mcp.webflow.com/mcp, then /mcp to log in.
Does the Webflow MCP work with ChatGPT?
Yes. Webflow has an official app in ChatGPT that connects to the same MCP server through OAuth.
Is the Webflow MCP safe to use on a live site?
It works within your Webflow permissions, but it can edit content and publish. Test on a staging site first and keep tool approvals on for anything that writes.
Do I need the Webflow Designer open?
Only for a few canvas tools like selection, visual snapshots and breakpoints. CMS, pages, SEO and analytics work without it.
